No Delay Needed

As cases of the H1N1 virus continue to rise in Singapore, there are some calls in Singapore to delay the opening of the school term.

I believe some other countries have already done this and some Singaporeans believe Singapore should follow suit. I disagree with this call. Although I agree that the H1N1 virus is serious but calls to delay the school term will not help the matter at all. The H1N1 seems to be here for the long term and even if we delay the start of the school term for a week or two, the virus will still be here. There is no cure for the virus.

Also it is the school break now and there are 17 more local cases confirmed on Monday. The H1N1 virus is here in Singapore and it is spreading; schoolchildren are already in danger of being infected. Delaying the opening of the school term will not help that.
