Not For Singapore

Recently, a high-powered government planning committee recommended that Singapore should look into the use of the nuclear energy to meet the long-term energy needs of Singapore. Is nuclear power a viable option for Singapore?

Of course not! I know this is just a recommendation but what in the world are those guys on that committee thinking? Now I’m not saying that nuclear energy is evil or anything, it is cleaner than oil and more cost-effective in the long-term, but the potential upside to nuclear energy is just not worth it when you compare it to the potential downside of an accident. Think about it; Singapore is a small island. If an accident was to happen, where in Singapore could we go to? Our island is only 42km wide and with a population of 5 million people, if there was an accident in the nuclear plant, there is just nowhere in Singapore we can run to. No matter how good the safety standards are, you can never rule out accidents (and in the long run, there will be an accident sooner or later) and if Singapore build a nuclear plant and there’s an accident in the plant…don’t we have to abandon Singapore then?

Looking at the matter, I fail to see how nuclear power can be a viable option for Singapore. I would like to know how that high-powered government planning committee could.

Why not? Singapore is becoming harder to live in already with all the foreign talents and increasing expenses. Sooner or later, many more Singaporeans will be migrating or staying longer overseas for business or work reasons.

We can make do with a little relief in electrical bills. And who knows, the nuclear power plant may become another landmark attraction for Singapore too!

How would building a nuclear plant make Singapore an easier place to live in? If anything, the government would charge us more to recover the money spent to build the damm thing

And in the event that an accident happens, I am sure the elites and FTs will have the first ticket out and lesser mortals like us useless fodder, just like the movie 2012.

Well, since there is always a shortage of land, why not build an underground nuclear power plant just below the parliament.

Building the nuclear power plant is just the front. The actual intent is to produce enrich uranium for nuclear capability. The plot is thickening already. Heh-heh-heh...
