Ah Wimbledon! The spiritual home of tennis, where tennis history is made and constantly rewritten. Where every year, players come to play matches that will go down in history as epics.
At Wimbledon this year, there is one more epic for the history books…and it’s not over! Frenchman Nicolas Mahut and American John Isner have played for 10 hours (yes, 10 hours!) over 2 days and their match is tied at 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-7, 59-59.
Yes, 59-59 in the fifth set!
It is already the longest-ever match…and it’s still ongoing! Play was suspended as they ran out of daylight…for the second straight day! They played 3 hours on the first day, 7 hours on the second and play was suspended on both days due to lighting. When Roger Federer beat Andy Roddick in the final last year with a 16-14 final set, I thought that was an epic. This one is an epic marathon! And it’s still ongoing!
Wonder what odds bookies are giving for the match going to 100-100?
