Comics this week

Green Lantern: The New Guardians #6- After too long of a wait, the New Guardians team are finally seeing some action together. The new “villain” Invictus seems like a powerhouse but also don’t seem that interesting. Hopefully writer Tony Bedard can do something about that in the future but currently he is doing a fine job of showing the different roles each of the Guardians would be doing in the team. Arkillo will be the tank/battering ram, St. Walker will be the healer, Munk will be the teleporter etc. That’s important in a team where almost everyone has incredible cosmic powers. Now if only Bedard could do something about the villain!

I, Vampire #6- When I, Vampire was first announced, there were a lot of doubts about it. Comics about vampires don’t really have a good history and vampires in a superhero world like the DCU? However writer Joshua Hale Fialkov and artist Andrea Sorrentino have made I, Vampire one of the best series in the New 52. Yes, the appearance of Constantine and Batman were totally unnecessary but at least the duo had shown some real guts in this series. The game-changing end of this issue would rewrite everything we know about this series and we’re just at #6! Bring it on!
